Happy Anniversary.

Well friends, Wednesday was my anniversary.............15 years.  I had no trouble making a card for this occasion especially armed with this Paper Smooches stamp set, Boob Tubes.  Oh my how my friend, Jen, and I have had a chuckle over that name!  I was fortunate enough to win this set and soo glad that I did!

But may I go back to how my hubby and I met?  At a bar.  Yes.  The theme at the bar:  Country.  Enter me.  College student that borrowed her friends Roper boots and jeans.  White jeans.  (If you know me, I'm not a country attire wearing kinda gal at all!)  Well, let's just say I returned those jeans and they had a *few* grass stains from my "stumbling" after the night at the "Rock" (the name of the bar).  Enough about that.  :)  Anyway, we dated for 4 years and in May 1996, we finally tied the knot!  I can't believe it's been 15 wonderful years!

Well, if you know my husband, this card is right up his alley!  Totally him.  :)

CAS.....he loved it!  :)
I was going to post a pic but alas.....don't have a scanner!  My pics are that old!  hehe  Maybe next year!!

Wee Memories challenge this week was to Stamp It!  So pretty much anything goes if it's stamped!
Paper Sundaes challenge is to Pop It Up!  So I have 2 layers of dimension here on my little ole TV.
And then a great group of ladies who I do call my friends in blogland......The Papertrey Paper Dolls.  This week's challenge was issued by Sara from The Unhurried Life.  What great timing!  Her challenge was to make either a wedding card OR an anniversary card!

I do hope you all have a wonderful loooooonnnnnnggggg Memorial Day weekend!!!

My inspiration came from the birds in the photo above.  Made me think of the Little Bitty Bird set from PTI that I just "had" to have.  :)

Let's see what you come up with and remember if you use Wilson Designs stamps on your entry, you get an extra entry for the prize this week!  This week's sponsor is Kellys Creative Design that can be found on Etsy!  She has some amazing jewelry and she's offering a $15 Gift Certificate to the winner

May PTI Blog Hop!

Hi everyone!  I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post!  Sorry for the dry spell but life has been BUSY!  Not to mention the weather has had me so nervous that I couldn't hardly function the last several days!  But I'm here today with my blog hop card (finally) for the PTI blog hop!

This month's theme was flowers.......our favorite take on using flowers on our projects!
Well, this was super easy........I tend to reach for flowers more than anything!

I saw this awesome card by Vicky over at Lily Pad Cards recently and wanted to CASE it and this month's blog hop challenge was perfect!  I have been "collecting" Distress Inks lately with my Michael's coupons....anyone else like this?  Hehe.  After making this card, I can't wait to get more colors to use for flowers!  Check it out..........

There are several layers of embossed flowers and fussy cutting but I LOVE how this turned out!  So CAS!  I love all that white space to let the flower shine!  This shot lets you see the dimension of the flower.

The challenge over at Lily Pad Cards is to do embossing--any type!  I will definitely do more of these cards with these Distress Inks!  Well friends, have a great time with the rest of the blog hop!

{Thank You}

OTWC #53

Hi everyone!  Wow, what a Friday the 13th! So glad that Blogger is up and running again.....but then aren't we all?  So here is the Off the Wall Craftiness challenge for this week.  Just look at the colors this week!  I was happy to work with something that I could use my new pattern paper!  It's just so dreamy!

I took a couple of things from the inspiration photo besides the COLOR.  I used my Scattered Showers umbrella, paper pieced it and added the pearls.

When I saw the POSTCARD image, I knew I wanted to finally use my Postmarks set from PTI.  Do you spot any other of the Postmarks stamps here?  I used the word POSTCARD, the wavy lines, and Par Avion stamps and just randomly stamped them in Haystack Palette ink.  It blended in so well to this pattern paper!

The next photo shows the tiny tag which was stamped in BB: Newsprint and then the tiny images (FOR YOU and butterfly image) from Postmarks.

Our sponsor this week is Through The Craft Room Door!!  One lucky winner will receive a digital subscription!  We'd love to see what you make with this dreamy color palette and remember if you use Wilson Designs stamps, you get another chance at the prize!

My good blog friend, Suzanne whom I got to meet this spring, is hosting this week's challenge over at the Papertrey Paper Dolls blog.  Her challenge:  pattern paper!  Not just for one thing.......the WHOLE card except for the base!  Well, on my card I succeeded until I added the tiny tag but then I stamped my own  text, does that count as pattern paper??  LOL  Thanks Suzanne for such a great challenge....Gave me a chance to use my new papers!!!  We are heading out to our nephew's graduation after I get off work tomorrow for the weekend.  So everyone---HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

{FOR YOU}

PDCC80 & CPS217

As soon as I saw the colors for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge, I knew I wanted to play along.  However, time isn't on my side lately and I'm almost late to the party on this challenge.  I also combined it with the CPS sketch for this week as well (I did take the liberty to "adjust" it a bit!).  Paper Smooches is the sponsor of both......great idea to use my Friendly Flowers stamp set!!  The colors on this card just make me want to sing that song....feeling "Hot Hot Hot", drink a margarita, and be back on a cruise!  (it's been so hot here in Kansas the past few days....makes me long for a beach!)

I colored my sentiment and my flowers using Copics.  I kinda like the flowers not "all" colored in.....Yes, I meant to not color them in.  :)  Have a wonderful day!

NSD Challenge #5: Kid's Craft

Hey everyone!  I'm here with a card I made for a challenge yesterday but due to some planned activities I couldn't post until now!  I am on a blog group called the Papertrey Paper Dolls and one of my fellow Dolls, Laurie from Hiding in My Craft Room, issued several challenges yesterday for National Scrapbooking Day!  One of the ones I chose to participate in was the "Kid's Craft" challenge.  I had to make a birthday card anyway for a birthday party my son was attending yesterday so this was perfect!

What is it with boys and video games anyway?  I mean we had to buy my son's friend Pokeman cards.  I don't understand Pokeman at all and don't intend to.  Don't get me wrong........I love playing my DS when I get time but I prefer something like Sally's Salon or Cake Mania!  :)  But isn't this PTI stamp set perfect for those gamers in your life?  This $5 set will get lots of love in my house!!

This is also for one of the Papertrey Paper Dolls challenges that are ALWAYS open over on our blog.
Katie issued us a challenge to use only scraps from our scrap bin to make a card!  Well folks, all these pieces were in mine!  Even the blue card base!

Did any of you enjoy National Scrapbooking Day with any fun activities?  I did get to go to my LSS yesterday for a free Make 'n Take and everything was 20% off!  Whahooo....can't beat that!  I picked up some yummy new DP collections that you will start to see on my cards soon!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all my friends out there!  We are heading out of town to have a late lunch with my MIL and the rest of the family.  So this is quick today..........My card has been a work in progress for several days and thus missed the deadline for the CR84FN challenge this past week.  :(  Anyway, I love how it turned out and wanted to share it here.  I did use the sketch from Mojo Monday for this card as well.  Lots of layers but kinda fun to do after all the CAS cards from my last posts!  This is for my MIL and she will LOVE it!  She recently showed me that she keeps all of them in a book.  This means the world to me!

Here is the sketch:

I finally broke out my new Verve goodies I ordered right after the release!  I am in love with this floral set and matching dies!  These dies are very easy to use especially with the little clear positioning tool that's included.  And did I mention that they come in their own little pouch?  Julee has thought of everything!

Happy Mother's Day!  I may be back later in the day with another post and to update my supply list!

Wilson Designs: Release Day!

Hi everyone!  So what did you think of yesterdays projects?  Did you take some time to view the other DT blogs for even more inspiration with these 2 new sets?  Well, get ready because I am here to introduce the two newest stamp sets from Wilson Designs.

First up is the music set that you all were guessing............Lets Rock!

And the second set with the lady with the "bony legs".........hehe.........Scoot Away With Me.

Now I finally get to share my final projects using the main images with these two new sets!  Yippee!  Again in keeping with my CAS theme for this release is this cute card and I just love the sentiments here!

After stamping my background musical notes, I added some detail with the record stamp.  One of my Spellbinders circles cut this record stamp image out perfectly!  I love that!  By keeping it simple with just a few colors, it's easy to make this work quickly!

And finally here is my card using the Scooter and the "bony" legged woman!  I just love that comment!  :)
I did lots of paper piecing for this but otherwise kept it very simple using white space.

Here I used the line stamp from Simply Silhouettes.  Again versatility from these stamps!!  What better pattern paper to use?  Well, my Stella and Rose papers!!!  Here, I thought that the sky needed a little something and these clouds were a perfect fit!   My girl was colored in with Copic markers.....love those things!!

Ok, now today especially, I would LOVE to read your thoughts on these sets.  Now that you've seen the full reveal, what do you think?    Please comment on each of the DT blogs for a chance to win these stamp sets!
The first person to place an order will recieve our June set for FREE!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Wilson Designs: Release Day 1

Hi everyone!  Today is the day you've been waiting for.......some projects using the newest stamp sets in the Wilson Designs lineup!  Remember this month we are releasing 2 new sets!  I have several photos to share so sit back and enjoy!  Please scroll down to view all of my cards!!

First up, I used some of the musical note images for a sweet little set of 3 x 3 cards. CAS....easy!

My next card uses more of these musical images in what Kim likes to call a "mix-up" card to show how easy it is to use your existing Wilson Designs stamps with the new released sets. Here I've used the ringed circle background from Everything's Owlright.

I fussy cut a guitar and then broke out my Glossy Accents. I added this over just the black portions of the stamp. Totally reminds me of a this guitar my husband has that he got signed by numerous artists when he went to the Country Cares for St.Jude Kids seminar. It was supposed to be given away but the winner never picked it up! The radio station did some cleaning and found it and sent it home with him. Anyway, here is a close-up of the Glossy Accents....it added so much dimension and shine!

Here is a card using a basic background image from one of stamp sets........Polka Dots!!  The main image will be revealed tomorrow.  Oh how I love polka dots!!!  You will be seeing this on a lot of things......it's just the right size to ink up and soooo EASY to line up!!

Now, I wanted to point out why my polka dots look "distressed".  I inked up my polka dots and then drug the stamp across the ink pad.  It then gave it that distressed look when stamped!  I love it!  Here is a close-up of what I'm talking about.  I just love little tips like this to give your stamps some new life!

For my flower, I die cut some scalloped circles using some dies from PTI.  Stamped them with the sentiment "You go girl" over and over, added some more black distressing, crumpled them up to fray the edges just a bit, and added a huge grommet from my stash.  Another CAS card!!

Finally, a card that I LOVE using another basic background image.......Houndstooth!!  Here I measured with my score pal to determine the width of the scor-lines.  I then scored........this made it super easy to stamp that Houndstooth image to create these strips.  However, I don't want you to worry....Kim designed this stamp so it is very easy to line up if you choose to stamp it to make a continuous background.

Here is the close-up version to see the button and twine details.  Talk about CAS!!  I LOVE this.....but hey, I already said that, didn't I?  This is also my "mix-up" card......I used the Father's Day sentiment from
Nauti-Cool.

Alright, what do you think?  Are you excited to see the full release?  I can't wait to show you my final projects using the main images from BOTH of these sets tomorrow!!  Make sure to stop by the rest of the DT blogs for more inspiration and to comment because there will be some stamps up for grabs to some lucky commenters!!!  See you tomorrow at 6pm PST!

Happy Birthday Laurie! Blog Hop

Today is a very good friend of mine's birthday.........Laurie.  Some of her friends and I are celebrating with her today by hosting a birthday blog hop in her honor!  Laurie is such a talented stamping friend and I mean talented!  You need to check out her blog but I'm sure you already have because she is "Royalty"!  :)

I knew what I wanted to do for my card for her birthday blog hop today.........CASE one of her cards she's sent me.  She recently sent me this special card when I was feeling down and it has set on my counter since then and I get to look at it every day!  One of Laurie's favorite colors is RED so what better to use than red on a birthday card for her.

Here is my Laurie CASE:

Laurie, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for being such a great friend.  I so enjoy talking to you and even better getting together in person!  I know that isn't possible as much as we'd like due to the distance but I think of you as one of my best friends.  Here's to having a wonderful birthday today!

Now, go check out the other friends that are celebrating Laurie's birthday with me!
