Wednesday Sketch Challenge -- Sketch 296

Sketch296

Hello!  Welcome to the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge!  I am so excited to be back as the August Guest Designer but it's my FINAL post!  (insert crying!!!!)  It's always such an honor to craft along with MFT and the DT........thank you so much!  ♥

I was so happy to finally get my hands on the Flashy Florals stamps and dies from MFT.  They work perfect for a simple sketch like this weeks!  I stayed pretty true to the sketch but added in some B/W stripes from the Rainbow Stripes 6x6 Paper Pad down the sides to tie in with the bold black in my flowers.  My sentiment is from a stamp set that is a MUST HAVE......Essential Sentiments and was added with foam adhesive.  All inks are Premium Dye Inks from MFT as well as the gray ink that was stenciled in dots in the background of the card.  As a finishing touch, I've added some fabulous Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

We would love to see your take on this week's sketch!  Link up your cards and have fun!

Retro Christmas anyone?

Dear Santa

Hello!  The recent new release from Avery Elle has me going back to my childhood days of retro Christmas lights and pie plate trees in my yard!  There are several sets that I consider "retro" and I have 2 cards to share today using them.
Avery Elle

First, is an adorable mini set called Dear Santa and coordinating Dear Santa Elle-ments dies.  I colored my sophisticated cat and matching Santa hat with Copics and added some shading.  What a better sentiment than "Don't get your tinsel in a tangle" to pair with some gold thread!  I think it's the perfect "retro" touch as well as the matching gold glitter enamel dots.  Paper strips are scraps from The Jewel Collection 6x6 Paper Pad from Avery Elle.

Retro Ornaments

Now this card brings back memories!  Many memories of my dad hanging lights every year for Christmas.  These same type of lights were also on a "pie plate tree" he made and displayed in our yard.  Anyone have one of those or remember them?  Now, I wish I had one of them!!!  Maybe I need to hit my dad up to make one for me!

Using the Retro Ornaments stamp set, I repeatedly stamped ithe string of Christmas lights in with black ink.  I quickly colored them with Copic colors I remember when I was young.....red, yellow, orange, green, blue.  A tiny white pigment ink dot was added with my Signo Uniball pen for some texture.  My panel was trimmed with the Pierced Banner Layers Elle-ments and adhered with foam adhesive.  The fun retro sentiment was stamped onto one of the Pierced Banner Layers Elle-ments and layered.  This card will be super easy to mail off this holiday season!

Taylored Expressions 8th Birthday Celebration!

8th Birthday

Hello!  I'm excited to help Taylored Expressions celebrate their 8th Birthday!  Make sure to visit the Taylored Expressions Blog for tons of inspiration this week!

Taylored Expressions is celebrating its 8th birthday with some fun party favors! These include everything from the exclusive WISH BIG stamp & die combo set I’ve used today, to patterned paper packs, ink, and more! Visit the Taylored Expressions Blog for all the special offers and for your chance to win a fun prize!

I've used a new special set called Wish Big Stamp/Die Combo which was designed just for this celebration!  The Wish Big Stamp and die combo (see set below) will be FREE with orders of $50 or more from September 1st - September 11th.

I started by embossing the word happy in white all over a panel of white cardstock.  Then I blended Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry) over my panel.  I stamped 3 balloons from the set in Strawberry Milkshake, Cookie Monster, and Jelly Donut inks from Taylored Expressions and hand trimmed out.  I added those with foam adhesive and some thread for strings.  To finish my sentiment, I black heat embossed another word "happy" and used the coordinating die to cut out.  I added some watercolor to the word happy with more Distress Ink.  This was attached using foam adhseive.  The word "birthday" was white heat embossed onto black cardstock and a few white enamel dots were added to finish it off!

Catherine Pooler's Store Opening Blog Hop!

CPBH

Hello!  I'm so excited to be helping Catherine Pooler celebrate her online store opening later today!  The store will officially open this afternoon and to be notified please subscribe to her newsletter on the Catherine Pooler blog.  She will send out an email when the store opens and you will get free tutorials, PDFs, downloads, etc.for being a subscriber!

When the stamp set from SugarPea Designs was released in the Stamp Of Approval box many months ago, I was in love.  I loved the flowers and those leaves!!!  Heart leaves?  Swoon!  I knew this set was going to be a favorite!

The flowers were white heat embossed onto watercolor paper.  I loosely watercolored them with many different colors of Distress Inks for shading and adding depth.  They don't have to be perfect.....just have fun and don't worry about staying in the lines!  All the images were die cut with the coordinating dies.  My sentiment comes from a stamp and die from CAS-UAL Fridays Stamps called All About You.  There are so many ways to use this set!  My panel was adhered with foam adhesive and a few Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh were added.

Creative Fuel

Just Brew It

Hello!  I have a card to share using stamps from the last Reverse Confetti release.  I'm playing along with CASology with their challenge of "FUN"!

Pattern paper.  Let's talk about it.  We all collect it, hoard it, don't use it, and love it BUT we need to!  My card was super simple with the help of a piece of pattern paper.  It looks like watercolor stripes but it's paper!  The addition of this pattern paper just makes this "FUN"!

I've added a frame using the All Framed Up Confetti Cuts.  I stamped the "creative fuel" mug from Just Brew It and cut out using the coordinating Just Brew It Confetti Cuts.  I added a few coordinating enamel dots and twine......done!

SugarPea Designs--August Sweet Peek Day 5

Hello!  I am excited to share some of the projects I've been working on for the brand new release for SugarPea Designs!  Each day this week, we will be sharing inspiration using the new release.  With several new stamp sets, matching dies, and even a new paper product.......there's something you are sure to love!  The entire August Product Release will be available starting Friday, Augst 26th at 6pm EST in the SPD Store.

I put together some quick and easy little treats that certainly could be done with a youngster as a Halloween treat for their classroom!  I took the smallest Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles and die cut out of white cardstock.  I stamped several of the images, from Sweet Treats - Halloween, in colored ink and over stamped with some of the tiny sentiments that matched!  I wrapped the rectangles around a Hershey's Miniature candy bar.

SugarPea Designs--August Sweet Peek Day 4

I stamped my bat from Fangtastic onto grey paper so I could add some light shading in with Copics and trimmed out.  My bat looks funny in my pic because I have its wings pulled out for dimension and it showed up awkward in my photo!  After die cutting one of the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles, I stamped the moon by doing a rock 'n roll technique with yellow and orange pigment inks.  My panel was layered with orange cardstock and adhered to a tiny star pattern paper.  A bit of halloween twine from my stash finishes this off!
